| Weekend seminars in New Zealand with Gillian Riley |
Based in the UK, Gillian will lead her EATING LESS seminars for the first time in New Zealand in February 2010, in Auckland on 20th and 21st, and in Wellington on 27th and 28th.
We all know that diets don’t work, but what in the world do you do instead? Gillian Riley, author of the highly acclaimed EATING LESS, is a leading light in the current anti-diet revolution. Challenging common advice to eat when hungry and stop when full, Gillian teaches well-researched cognitive techniques that deal with the neurochemistry of addiction. Her aim is to raise awareness of the addictive nature of overeating in order to create a healthy, relaxed and realistically imperfect relationship with food.
The EATING LESS book and seminar show how to...
...develop a true sense of free choice, instead of complying with prohibitions only to rebel against them later
...develop the skill of identifying, managing and releasing the desire for food you don’t really need
...develop a flexible style of eating to replace the all-or-nothing cycle of dieting and bingeing - so that lapses don’t turn into long term relapses
EATING LESS makes sustainable weight loss possible through the elimination of overwhelming and persistent cravings, the sense of depriving oneself of comforting treats, and rebellious rule breaking.
It’s no quick fix, but it is a lasting one. And there will be no need to diet again.
New Zealand's WOMAN'S WEEKLY is to include a feature on this seminar, in the issue dated January 18, 2010.
This two-day seminar will follow the content of Gillian’s books, Eating Less:
Say Goodbye To Overeating (Vermilion, 2005) and Beating Overeating:
The Easy Guide (self-published, 2009).
It’s strongly recommended that you read one of these books before you attend the weekend.
The format of the seminar is informal lecture and discussion, and groups are fairly small at about 15. The value (over only reading the book) is in understanding the concepts more fully and adapting the technique to you and your life.
The fee for the two day seminar is $405 (NZD). A deposit of $200 (NZD) will reserve your place. Click below to send your deposit by credit card or email us for details of where to mail a cheque in New Zealand (Rotorua).
